Time Out for Safety
Workplace safety is about preventing injury and illness to employees and volunteers in the workplace. It’s about protecting the company’s most valuable asset: its workers.
1. Stop Work Responsibility
Every employee has the responsibility and authority to stop work IMMEDIATELY, without fear of reprisal, when convinced a situation places themselves, their coworker(s), or their environment in danger. “Stop Work” is defined as stopping specific task activity that poses a danger to human health and/or the environment.
2. Reporting Unsafe Conditions
Employees are expected to report to Supervision any activity or condition which they believe is unsafe.
3. You have the right to a clean and safe workplace
All employees are required to maintain a work area free of debris and excess materials.
4. Near Miss Reporting
Employees are expected to report any near misses and then reviewed to instill corrective measures to ensure an accident does not occur in the future.
5. Pre-Task Planning
Before the start of work, workers go through a pre-task planner to review the steps of tasks and ensure they have the appropriate tools, equipment, and training to perform the tasks.
